3 Signs of Poor Air Conditioning Efficiency

When the air conditioning system in your Moreland, Georgia, home isn’t operating as efficiently as it should, you may notice a few warning signs. Some of the most common signs of poor efficiency include weak airflow, warm air coming through the vents, and poor indoor air quality. Keep an eye out for these warning signs and know what to do in each situation.

Weak Airflow

If the air coming through your cooling system feels weak, you may have an issue with the compressor that is impacting efficiency. The compressor is one of the most vital components of the system, so it’s important to get it checked out by an experienced HVAC technician to determine if it’s struggling to keep up. If you notice that certain rooms have stronger airflow than others, the issue could be related to a blockage in the ductwork.

You may also have a problem with the pressure balance within the system, which an HVAC technician can diagnose and repair. The filter within your HVAC unit may even be to blame if you haven’t changed it recently. A dirty air filter can cause a problem with the efficiency of the system as well as impact the quality of the air you breathe.

Warm Air Coming Through the Vents

When your system is set to cool but the air coming through the vents feels warm, this can indicate an issue with AC efficiency. Often, this problem occurs when the refrigerant level is low, although it may be caused by other issues within the system.

Poor Indoor Air Quality

If you notice more dust and debris floating around in your home, your home’s air conditioning system may not be operating as efficiently as it could be. When functioning properly, the filter should trap most of the contaminants in your indoor air, ensuring that what you breathe is clean and healthy.
