Replace Your Air Filter Regularly

While you should be replacing your air filter regularly regardless of your furnace’s age, it’s especially important for older units. A clogged or dirty filter forces your furnace to work harder to maintain a consistent temperature, and that is particularly hard on older models that have experienced more wear and tear.

As a rule, you should at least check your furnace filter once a month. If you have a higher-end filter that can last longer, you may be able to get away with changing your filter every 60 days.
